2016 RECAP

Salute from New York City in 2017!
Last year was tremendous, though we here on the East Coast are fairly certain we are not the first people’s who are experiencing change and tumult. For us, 2016 was a time of steady learning, of mourning, and of appreciation for all the systems that keep us here together.
Due to the fact our lives seem to be accelerating in terms of uncertainty, scheduling, and movement, this little subscription is just one avenue to stay in touch in these times of asynchrony. As with many things b(x) strive for, it is an experiment, and we will further refine and hone our approach to maximize it’s value for all involved.

A year’s worth of activity condensed into a highlight list.

> Took 5 trips up to our first upstate reforesting project, Oasis. Dug out the first 2 of 7 swales.

> Successfully grew some mushrooms through methods obtained from Radical Mycology Course

> Completed a Water Filtration system on the award winning Swale Barge

> Invited by schools and youth organizations throughout the year to share our urban experiments.

> Ran a series of biology Workshops and Screenings that we will continue into the future

The Passing of our Dear friend Clark will leave a deep void for us going into the future. Clark’s life – the movements he participated in and created, his art and actions, his love and conviction – motivate us to forge forward and truly honor his legacy.

Of the many talents he possessed, his knack for making us laugh and pattern recognize needs to be known by many more. Here is a link to a full length film he created with friends. Watch it with yours.
